The highest court of law in Seychelles is the Court of Appeal, the final appellate court in the Seychelles, presided by the President of the Court of Appeal.
The second court in terms of hierarchy is the the Supreme Court of Seychelles, housed in Victoria and presided by the Chief Justice, which is vested with the power to hear civil matters of a high pecuniary value and penal offences. The Supreme Court shall also hear appeals from lower courts e.g. Courts of Magistrates and tribunals
The Magistrates Courts of Seychelles has competence over civil claims of a lower pecuniary value and over penal offences, where the prescribed term for imprisonment is inferior to the ones entertained by the Supreme Court
